BELAGA, 2 March 2017 – Students of SK Uma Sambop and SK Long Urun recently received school bags from iM Sarawak as part of iM Sarawak education programme for rural schools in Sarawak. SK Uma Sambop Principal, Alison Alah Madan said that he was grateful for the meaningful and timely contribution from iM Sarawak. He said that besides fulfilling a basic schooling need, the bags have given the children a motivational boost.
The SK Long Urun Principal, Jalong Imut agreed and added that his students have expressed that they were excited to go to school with their bags and were keen to study hard.
“Education has always been a main focus point for iM Sarawak because we believe education plays a key role in elevating one’s wellbeing,” said 1Malaysia Sarawak Advisory Council member (1MSAC), YBhg Datuk Billy Abit Joo. “iM Sarawak is delighted to be a part of this effort and we hope other similar organisations will also come forward and contribute towards the welfare of the people of Belaga,” he concluded.
Other iM Sarawak education centred initiatives include the iM Sarawak School Adoption Programme, the iM Sarawak Back to School Programme and its support for Kejohanan Sukan Sekolah Pribumi Sarawak.
Also present was Hulu Rajang MP, YB Datuk Wilson Ugak Anak Kumbong.
